Andrew Bud is founder and CEO of London-based iProov, which since 2013 has established a worldwide reputation as the leader in “liveness” detection – the assurance of genuine presence – and face verification for online ID verification and strong customer authentication. In 2018 iProov became the first ever non-US company to receive a contract from the US Department of Homeland Security under its S&T OTA programme. iProov is used by the several governments worldwide, and by large international banks to meet their regulatory and security obligations in a user-friendly way. Previously, Andrew had been the founder, CEO and Executive Chairman of mBlox, which he built from 2000 to become the world’s largest provider of enterprise text messaging and mobile carrier payments. In 2016 when it was sold for $117m, it processed 6 billion transactions worldwide. In 2009 he was named by Telecoms.com as one of the world’s top 40 telecoms executives, and in 2016 he received the messaging industry’s first Lifetime Achievement award. Since then he has become a well-known figure in the cyber-security and biometrics industry, winning in 2017 the first NCSC Cyber Dragons’ Den Award in the UK and the Citi Technology for Integrity Award in Singapore and the Finovate 2018 Best of Show Award. Earlier in his career he spent nearly a decade in Italy as a pioneer in the mobile communications industry.
