Tarvinder Sembhi is responsible for identity strategy as part of the Consumer Products Group at Verizon. Tarvinder Sembhi is a veteran executive in the biometrics and ID management industry. His extensive experience the deployment of biometrics in developing countries includes working with UNHCR’s Pakistan/Afghanistan refugee management system, the World Food Programme in India, and a biometric-enabled entitlement program/payment system in the Middle East.
Previously, he was an independent consultant and provided identity solution and architecture support to governments and technology companies. Projects included the award winning biometric enabled smart card project that enabled entitlement distribution for the Iraqi Ministry of Finance. He also built WCC’s biometric expertise and established WCC as a world leader a providing multi-biometric identity technologies. He also held leadership roles at 4GID solutions, a company that participated in India’s Unique ID program and Iridian Technologies, the inventor of iris recognition technology, where he led the product teams. Iridian’s innovative products received Frost & Sullivan’s Technology Leadership Award.
He has also held leadership roles with General Electric Company, Ford Motor Company, and Sarnoff Corporation. Tarvinder Sembhi has a Bachelor’s of Science in Engineering from Penn State University and an MBA from Lehigh University. He also graduated from General Electric’s prestigious Management Program.
